An Introdution

At the cusp of radical change, we open a discussion of what may be possible. Write prose and poetry and more. Use this space for longform exploration. Speak to the present and what may become possible. Imagine what might be. Give your piece a title (which will be in bold type). Sign your contribution at the end.  ~ Editor

For Lack of Evidence

Glittering under the streetlights
like confetti,
bits of shattered plastic
line the curbs of the intersection
where someone died today.
High overhead,
lights of a jet cross the dark sky.
On the other side of the world
under a blazing noon,
neighbors dig through rubble
for a missing child.
The howl of the ambulances
sounds the call to prayer.

Spacecraft Earth

This spaceship planet Earth, our home, is rapidly warming. We must adjust or die off. The changes are our own fault. We now must recognize our true ownership of the spaceship. As one people, the sentient human population, we have just now realized that we have the technology we need to save ourselves. We must now attain the level of maturity that allows us as one cohort to pilot the spaceship. We must now become one people in active collaboration. Now at a true cusp of many interactive events, a perfect storm, we can steer our ship into safety. Nobody else – no space aliens, no great gurus, no kindly father – will appear to save us from our own folly.

Renewable energy is one of those technology resources or tools. Gaining mastery of the spacecraft goes beyond that fix. The controls of the ship must include insight into how we share the vast resources of this vessel. The controls are more than just the steering wheel or fuel throttle. The ship is more than just the physical environment. We must now conjure a new set of controls that encompass how we communicate and indeed how we commune.
